Support Extension of RTE Act to Secondary Education

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”black” css=”.vc_custom_1473655625333{margin-top: -35px ;}”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Did you know that children of mothers who are educated have better chances of not being undernourished, compared to girls who have never been educated.

Investing in girls’ education is an important component of strategies to prevent child mortality, child marriage and teenage pregnancies.

The Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act has been able to bring about a positive change to ensure children from 6- 14 years have access to free education including free books and uniforms.

But we still have to think about education at the secondary level, especially for adolescent boys and girls above 14 years of age. It is crucial for them to be in a protected space as this can prevent early marriage and, hence, early pregnancy.

When girls stay in school after primary education, they develop their life skills further and are empowered to make informed decisions.

In short, more years of education leads to long-term impact for not only adolescent girls and boys, but also for their families.
