In India since:  1974

About: UNFPA’s mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

Aligned with the ICPD Programme of Action, post-2015 development agenda and the global framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, UNFPA policy and action focus on four key tracks in India: Investing in adolescents and youth especially the vulnerable and marginalised; Expanding the availability and use of integrated sexual and reproductive health information and services with a focus on family planning; Ending the practice of gender-biased sex selection and promoting gender equity and equality; Using data to decode population dynamics including evidence-based advocacy to address the emerging issues of population ageing.

UNFPA collaborates extensively with a range of stakeholders such as the government, civil society, private sector, academic and research institutions, medical community, media, judiciary, and most importantly, the communities themselves.
